A MEMORIAL bench has been placed at Leasowe Bay by the family of Moreton mum-of-three Melissa Kinsella, on what would have been her 31st birthday.

Melissa, known by her family and friends as 'Missy', tragically died on Friday, May 26 after she suffered a seizure at an airport in Turkey where she was due to fly home from.

Doctors in Turkey told Melissa's family that she had swelling on her heart and brain. After being on life support for 10 days, Melissa was flown back to the UK by air ambulance with £50,000 raised by the community.

At her funeral which took place at Landican Cemetary on June 30, Melissa was described as "beautiful inside and out" and a "homebird" who loved spending time with her partner Jay and her three daughters, Chloe, Romi and Beau.

Today (Wednesday, September 13) Melissa would have been celebrating her 31st birthday.

A memorial bench, bought with the money raised at a charity night that was held while Melissa was in hospital, has been placed at Leasowe Bay.

Michelle Heathcoate, Melissa's mum, said: "The money was for Melissa, but because she died shortly after coming home, we decided to use it for a bench."

The bench has a picture of Melissa and a picture of Melissa's granddad, who died two years ago on it.

Michelle added: "I really wanted the bench to be there in time for her birthday.

"We picked the spot because it is a really calming place and a perfect spot for Melissa. She used to go down there with her kids.

"It is a place that her family and friends can visit to remember her."

Later on today, Michelle, along with Melissa's family and friends, will meet at the bench, to "raise a glass" to her on her birthday.
