A CHESHIRE village between Chester and Ellesmere Port will see three of its roads' speed limits cut to 50mph.

A Traffic Order implemented by Cheshire West and Chester Council will see much of Rake Lane, all of Poplar Lane and a section of Church Lane in Backford reduced from national speed limit to 50mph.

The section of Rake Lane affected will be between its junction with the 50mph A41 Liverpool Road and a point 651 metres south of its junction with the A5117, where the road becomes a 40mph stretch.

The section of Church Lane to be changed will be from the junction with Rake Lane to a point 308 metres north-east of the junction with Liverpool Road, where the road goes through Backford and is a 20mph section.

The new speed limits will take effect from Friday, September 8.
