STUDENTS at Blacon High School in Chester celebrated a successful GCSE results day.

Blacon High School said that its students had 'succeeded across all areas of the curriculum' despite an extremely disrupted few years for the education sector adding that they were 'very proud' to share in their success as their hard work was rewarded.

All students at the school will be moving into the next stage of their education, with their results enabling them to access the course of their choice, be that A Levels, T Levels, vocational courses or apprenticeships.

Blacon High said that the resilience shown by its class of 2023 reflected the key values of the school and that their achievements would also serve as motivation for the incoming Year 11.

Several of the school's students will also be studying their A Levels at some of the country's schools after achieving a fully-funded bursary place via the Hope Opportunity Trust.

The charity support students within the North West from communities that have been labelled socially and economically deprived to study A Levels at the top boarding schools within Great Britain.

The latest recipients will be joining almost forty Blacon High School students who have been successful in achieving places on the bursary scheme over the last ten years. Most are now studying at university or have gone on to some fantastic careers including, medicine, politics, veterinary science and astrophysics.

Blacon High School Headteacher, Rachel Hudson said: "I am incredibly proud of all our students in Year 11 and would like to congratulate them on their achievements. My thanks to all staff, Governors and parents for their ongoing support.

"We should not underestimate the impact of the last few years in education, during one of the most turbulent times for many years. The resilience and determination of our young people continues to inspire us every day. We wish the class of 2023 every success for the future."
