CHESTER Pride will partner with Sykes Holiday Cottages to help reduce the carbon footprint at its upcoming event on Saturday, August 19.

Sykes will act as the official sustainability sponsor this year – helping to fund a series of initiatives to cut back on plastic waste and promote recycling at the event. Chester Pride hopes to halve its carbon footprint by 2025.

In addition to the funding, more than 20 employees from the Chester-based business will volunteer to help at the Pride event, while several Sykes colleagues will also attend the parade on the day with their friends and family.

This year, in collaboration with Chester Pride, Sykes has also launched a series of workshops to teach employees about LGBTQ+ issues and how to promote an inclusive culture within the organisation.

Graham Donoghue, CEO of Sykes Holiday Cottages, said: "At Sykes, we are fully committed to embracing equality in all its forms, fostering an inclusive environment, and supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

"We’re proud to be the Official Sustainability Sponsor for Chester Pride this year, working together to make the event greener while also introducing positive changes to our workplace to celebrate the occasion."

Richard Euston, Head of Charity for Chester Pride, said: "We’re looking forward to making sure this year’s Chester Pride is the best and greenest event yet.

"Our partnership with Sykes demonstrates our shared commitment towards promoting inclusivity and diversity, and we’re grateful for all their support as we work towards our goal to halving our carbon footprint by 2025."

Chester Pride is a dedicated volunteer-led charity who advocate for inclusion and equality within the LGBTQ+ community.
