A CHESHIRE youngster has enjoyed plenty of success in a range of sports at this year's World Dwarf Games.

Matthew Green, nine, from Frodsham, has a type of restricted growth called achondroplasia, and this year was his first time at the World Dwarf Games, which take place every four years.

At this year's tournament in Cologne, Germany, Matthew competed in many sports against people from all over the world and managed to bring home an amazing six medals.

He got bronze in volleyball, relay race and the 25-metre backstroke, plus silver in frisbee throw, basketball and football, where he was an amazing striker, scoring six goals for his team.

The next World Dwarf Games is in Australia in 2027, where Matthew is hoping to be able to go and compete on a level playing field again.

It's thanks to the DSA (Dwarf Sports Association) of Great Britain that Matthew and his family found out about the Games.

The DSA is celebrating its 30th year this year since being founded and it holds a national games in May every year in Birmingham, which Matthew and his family attend.
