A CHESTER city centre charity which helps local children and families received a warm welcome from the city's MP

The team at KidsBank was delighted to welcome Sam Dixon MP as she took time out of her busy schedule to visit the charity hub earlier this week.

As the number of children living in poverty continues to rise, the team welcomed the opportunity to talk about how they support local families in need by providing practical items – equipment, clothes, toys, books and toiletries.

KidsBank is currently processing requests from local families for school uniform and have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the community in donating the items needed.

This means that over 150 children referred to KidsBank will have the school uniform they need at the start of the September term.

The City of Chester Labour MP will join the team as a volunteer on a shift later this year.

KidsBank founder Cathy Pettingale said in response: "In offering her time to join us on a shift and really get to know the work we do and the impact it can make on a family is incredibly heartwarming."
