PLANS to build 625 new homes in Ellesmere Port have been revealed.

The next phases of the massive Redrow development for Ledsham have been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Back in 2015, the homebuilder won outline approval for 2,000 Ledsham Garden Village homes, adjoining Little Sutton and Great Sutton, following a public inquiry.

Construction of hundreds of homes has since taken place on the site, as various phases for specific development plots secured the green light from the authority.

Now Redrow is seeking permission to build 625 homes on a 39.96ha site – the largest phases of the development – and would take the total number of homes built to 1,647.

The new houses would be built on land off Ledsham Road, Little Sutton to the north, and Green Lane, Great Sutton to the south. Of these, 98 dwellings would be accessed off Green Lane.

Redrow, in a design and access statement, said Phases 1-5 of its masterplan had already been given the go-ahead, and it was now seeking permission for Phases 6-11.

The total number of affordable houses would be 156, spread across the phases of development, and there would be a mixture of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom, four-bedroom and five-bedroom houses, which would feature apartments and bungalows.

Large areas of open space are proposed in the application, including play areas and pocket parks. The site includes sport pitches, an orchid and allotments.

Redrow conclude: "The scheme utilises the development area in the most efficient way and still provides excellent quality spacious living and striking street scenes.

"Redrow consider that the result is a high quality, well considered scheme that responds positively to its setting, by enhancing the area, creating additional character and an aspirational place to live that will benefit the local area by responding to the local housing needs and demand."
