A COMMUNITY art gallery for emerging artists in Chester has celebrated a record
breaking month.

The popular art gallery, Art Box, in Boughton, sold at least one piece of artwork every day in June.

Artwork is displayed from 45 local artists, with more arriving daily, as the gallery goes from strength to strength.

Liz Dunning, the Art Box Gallery manager and curator, said: “As the gallery becomes more popular, we are always welcoming new artwork from artists within Chester and the surrounding areas.

"We have noticed a number of regular clientele have taken the gallery to their hearts and are supporting the artists by becoming collectors of their works.”

Artworks range from sculptures to paintings to pencil drawings to original oil paintings from contemporary to traditional, abstract to realism.

Regular artists include Luke Sturgess who was recently chosen as the Wild Card winner on this year’s Sky Arts programme, ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’.

Luke’s piece depicting Blackpool Pier is available to buy as a Limited Edition print from Art Box.

In conjunction with The Chester Grosvenor, four Art Box artists are currently displaying their works within the Westminster Suite to further cement Art Box as a local community focused gallery.

The manager added: “We are delighted that Art Box’s popularity continues to grow as we see more and more repeat visits by the local community.

"As such, we are committed to hosting more events throughout the summer months and beyond, in conjunction with The Wine School of Cheshire. Events include wine tastings and food pairing which take place within ‘The Wine Garden’, a walled garden to the rear of Art Box’s premises here at 96 Boughton.”
