FIRE crews attended the Daresbury Hall site last night amid reports of a blaze.

This is not the first time that a blaze has been reported at the site, with the main building being 'gutted' by a fire in 2016.

A fire was reported at 8.50pm last night, Tuesday, and fire crews tackled the blaze.

According to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service's incident log, three fire engines headed to the scene of the reported flames.

One engine from Warrington's main depot attended, alongside one from Stockton Heath, and another that was drafted in from Runcorn.

Cheshire Fire's log reads: "One fire engine from Warrington, one fire engine from Stockton Heath and one fire engine from Runcorn attended.

"Crews were called to a fire involving a disused outbuilding.

"Firefighters used two main jets and a hose reel jet to tackle the fire which was well developed on arrival."

Daresbury Hall was severely damaged during a fire in 2016, and has since been listed as a building that is 'at risk' of being lost.

The hall, which is a listed building, was named in 2021 on Historic England’s 'Heritage at Risk' Register, which lists historic buildings in desperate need of repair.

Since the fire that destroyed most of the interior, the site has been secured but Historic England describes the building as having 'large amounts of masonry in an unstable condition.'

The at-risk register entry adds: “The building has been secured with a facade retention scaffold and mothballed in a roofless condition.

"Some urgent works are necessary to ensure complete loss is averted.”
