BURGER King looks set to make a return to Chester for the first time since 2019 after new plans were approved for a drive-thru restaurant at Chester Retail Park.

The new site, adjacent to Tim Hortons on the Deva Link side of the park, will be the fast food chain's only location in the city after its previous outpost on Foregate Street closed unexpectedly four years ago.

Burger King will be making use of plans for a drive-thru unit first lodged in May 2021 by architects The Harris Partnership on behalf of CPG (Consolidated Property Group) who were initially refused permission before the decision was appealed. Permission was then granted in October 2022.

The unit will have associated parking facilities and there will be amendments to the wider car park including the removal of trees and the formation of 11 new parking spaces.

The design will be in keeping with surrounding units, with The Harris Partnership stating: "The aim of the design is to take into account the adjacent properties and the proposed design will be developed in a contemporary, modern style, with a simple palette of materials designed to complement the nearby properties whilst also creating a crisp and sharp addition to the area.

"The proposal will be striking and clear in overall form incorporating cladding panels, aluminium framed glazing and a brickwork plinth."

To this, Burger King will add their trademark signage, logos and drive-thru speakers.

There will be four new parking spaces adjacent to the restaurant, including two new disabled bays and a waiting bay. The restaurant will also have kerbside pick-up.
