A WOMAN has admitted causing cruelty to a child following an incident involving hot hair straighteners.

Charlotte Wynne-Price, 32 and now of Wrenbury in Cheshire, pleaded guilty to the single charge of causing cruelty to a person under the age of 16 when she appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Thursday, June 1.

However, prosecutor Paul Smith called for an eight-week adjournment to allow for a number of processes to take place before she is sentenced.

First, Judge Peter Barrie was told the defence would be entering a basis of plea for the defendant but had not yet been uploaded to the court system, and that that would need to be by Friday, June 16.

Mr Smith also informed the court that a psychiatric report into Wynne-Price had been ordered which in turn would inform a pre-sentence report.

Judge Barrie set a date of Monday, July 17 for sentencing but acknowledged the need for flexibility over a length of time to produce a psychiatric report, and may not be available.

The defendant was given bail.
