AN EMERGING star in women's clothes design brought their debut collection to Chester Cathedral this month.

Alexandra Novacki, who will soon graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design from the University of Chester, has already made an impact in the industry, designing and crafting looks for the Cannes Film Festival and being nominated for Emerging British Womenswear Designer at Northern Fashion Week. Her work has also featured in London's Bond Street and on the pages of various magazines.

Her new collection, Furious Creature, was presented to a packed Chapter House at the Cathedral on Friday, May 26.

The designer said that it had been a "surreal few years" and that she felt "beyond proud" to be bringing her degree to a close with the debut collection and show. She also said that she had received "huge support" from the university and thanked Crichton Bespoke Tailors for their help crafting the collection.

Furious Creatures features elements of the Parisian haute couture of the 1940s, together with sharp Saville Row tailoring.

Alexandra said that the collection's imagery also took cues from her family heritage and a focus on femininity.

Alexandra said: "My Polish heritage lead me to discover the symbolic wildlife of the country. I felt a strong tie between the instinctive power of nature and how this marries with the essence of the female soul.

"The concept of weaponising female sexuality is more relevant now than ever. The Polish grey wolf, stork and white eagle encapsulate a journey through womenhood. I introduce you to my Furious Creatures."
