THE trial of Lucy Letby, who denies murdering seven babies at the Countess of Chester Hospital neonatal unit and attempting to murder 10 more, is due to resume on Friday, June 2.
The long-running trial, now in its 30th week before a jury, was expected to continue on Tuesday this week with the cross-examination of Letby by prosecutor Nicholas Johnson KC.
But the trial was adjourned on Tuesday after the judge, Mr Justice James Goss, explained to the court one of the 12 members of the jury could not come to court because of "particular personal reasons".
He added: "There is obvious uncertainty in relation to your colleague's position."
No new evidence was heard on Tuesday or Wednesday, and the court is not sitting today (Thursday).
Should the trial resume on Friday, it will do so from the later starting time of 1pm.
Once the trial resumes, Letby is expected to continue to be cross-examined in the case of Child I.
