A CHESTER community pub is to reopen its doors following a major £160k revamp.

The Brewery Arms on Chester Street in Saltney is to reopen on June 9 after its big investment, which has seen the pub transformed.

Behind the bar is community hero, passionate operator, and sponsor of the local football team, Warren Kelly, who has lived in the area his entire life. Warren is new to running a pub but is an experienced businessman with a passion for the local community. Having grown up just next door to the Brewery Arms, he has seen it evolve over the years and looks forward to becoming an integral part of its history.

Inside, the pub has been transformed with a complete redecoration to update and revitalise the space including new flooring and furniture throughout as well as a new bar, darts board and pool table. Outside, the pub now hosts a new, all weather courtyard area featuring state-of-the-art televisions and new seating so customers can see their favourite team play come rain or shine.

The grand opening will take place on June 9 from 5pm – anyone and everyone is welcome to come down to celebrate alongside Warren and the team.

The pub is part of Proper Pubs, the community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns, which has more than 165 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.

The Brewery Arms will be offering a wide range of drinks offers, including Wine Wednesday, where customers can get £2 off a bottle, Fizz Friday, offering customers a bottle of fizz for £10, along with cocktails, bottle and shot deals throughout the week.

Warren Kelly, operator of the Brewery Arms, is excited about the reopening. He said: “The pub looks fantastic, and I can’t believe the transformation. I’m really excited to get behind the bar, meet all our customers and support our local community. We’ll be starting off by collecting food for a local food bank, and donations to get a defibrillator installed.

“Pubs are the hub of their community, and we can’t wait to be the hub of Saltney.”

The pub will offer a full sports package including Sky Sports, BT Sports and Horse Racing. Warren looks forward to hosting regular live music evenings with a DJ and karaoke, as well as reintroducing pool, darts and dominoes teams to the pub, further bringing people together. He will also host special events for the local football club to ensure they have a community-based space to gather in.

Matthew Gurney, operations director for Proper Pubs, said: “I’m really excited about the opening of the Brewery Arms! The team have worked hard on the refurbishment, and we’re just finalising the finishing touches ready to open.

“On behalf of the Proper Pubs team, we would like to wish our community hero, Warren Kelly, every inch of success for the future in making the Brewery Arms a fantastic hub of the community”.

Proper Pubs is always supporting its communities through an array of events and charity fundraising initiatives, from Christmas selection box collections to local foodbank donations. This Easter, Proper Pubs collected over 12,200 Easter Eggs for local charities and recently installed its 85th defibrillator across its estate.
