A NEW coffee bar aiming to make people feel "comfortable and relaxed" has opened its doors in Parkgate.

Owner Chantal Broadhurst, 39, from West Kirby and manager, Lauren Cassidy from Chester, have brought a "casual coffee and wine venue" to Parkgate.

No.1 Parkgate has partnered with local businesses such as Lost Barn Coffee Roasters, S0lo Bread and Copplecakes.

There are also brunch and lunch options, including avocado, egg and full English dishes, but also lighter dishes like acai bowls.

Alternative drinks like OHMG and TRIP are also being sold.

Chantal said: "The idea was to work with local suppliers and independent businesses.

"Our food also has something for everyone. Everything we stock has been hand-selected and carefully chosen."

The bar is stocking wine from a merchant in Chester called White Fox Wine, who has hand-selected a small number of wines to sell to customers.

"I wanted to bring somewhere to Parkgate that I would come with my children", Chantal added.

"Also, I wanted it to be somewhere you could come with your friends for a nice glass of wine and have some nibbles, to watch the sunset over the marshes, in a relaxed environment.

"We've done lots of coffee training and food training, to get familiar with the building, so the team are raring to go."

With the venue located on The Parade in Parkgate, Chantal explained she chose the location because "it's beautiful".

She said: "There's plenty we can offer, and it's something new to the area as well.

"We thought it was a great opportunity to provide something different to bring people over the Parkgate.

"We want it to appeal to everyone, and somewhere the local residents can come and feel comfortable."
