TRAFFIC has been cleared following an accident on the M53 motorway this morning.

At around 10am traffic was temporarily held and reported to be at “standstill” due to an accident on the M53 Southbound.

The queuing traffic was from J4 A5137 Brimstage Road (Bebington) to J5 A41 New Chester Road (Eastham).

Traffic and travel tracker system, Inrix, reported: "M53 Southbound partially blocked, queueing traffic due to accident from J4 A5137 Brimstage Road (Bebington) to J5 A41 New Chester Road (Eastham). Traffic is now able to flow again after being briefly held for around 15 minutes."

North West Motorway Police attended the scene to handle the incident and to remove debris.

Traffic was held for 15 minutes and roads have now been cleared.
