A BRIDGE in Neston which forms part of the Wirral Way is to be removed and replaced after a series of inspections determined that the structure is 'beyond practical repair'.
Windle Hill Bridge on Cuckoo Lane, Neston, was recently closed due to safety concerns, but Cheshire West and Chester Council have now announced that it will be removed.
The bridge has been closed with a minor diversion around it to allow users to access the full length of the Wirral way. To allow access under the bridge to the nearby fields, the bridge will be taken down over the next two weeks, to allow safe passage underneath for users needing to access their land.
The Council says it is committed to installing a new bridge but the timescales for this are not currently known, as it will need to be designed and procured.
The alternative access will remain in place for users of the Wirral way until the new bridge is installed, users are reminded to be vigilant when using this alternative access and to be aware of farm vehicles.
