A THIEF has been jailed after damaging parcel lockers and stealing packages from inside.
Lee Osborne targeted the lockers outside Morrisons in Widnes, and he also stole from shops.
The 44-year-old was charged with seven counts of theft, four of criminal damage and one of possessing amphetamine.
He appeared to be sentenced at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 4, where he was told that immediate custody was appropriate punishment.
Clare Oliver, prosecuting, told the court how the offences occurred between December and March this year.
Osborne damaged lockers to an unknown value belonging to InPost outside Morrisons supermarket on four separate occasions.
He then proceeded to steal parcels from inside, but he also stole from shops too.
From Holland and Barrett in Widnes he stole protein powder worth £81 and £76 on two days.
He also helped himself to £100 worth of vodka from Aldi in Widnes, while he was found to be in possession of a quantity of amphetamine.
Magistrates said they would take his guilty pleas into account, but they remarked that the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified.
This was due to the defendant having a ‘flagrant disregard’ for court orders, him planning the thefts and his poor history of compliance with court orders.
Osborne, of Sharp Street in Widnes, was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison.
