HEAVYWEIGHT boxer, Tommy Joe Moore, visited a Ju Jitsu Club in Ellesmere Port to hold a self defence class.

The Bushido Ju Jitsu Headquarters Dojo held a special four-hour seminar with Tommy, a martial arts coach, heavyweight boxer, former history teacher and author of many books and YouTube videos.

The session was attended by current students and club instructors from across the UK.

They included teenagers, NHS staff, teachers, council staff, police and prison staff. The session covered a number of self-defence scenarios including, different types of ambush, multiple attackers, knife defences and how to protect your family in dangerous situations.

Sensei Paul Geoghegan 9th Dan and Sensei Phil Rhodes 7th Dan from the Ju Jitsu club met Tommy whilst they were both teaching at a Japanese Martial Arts event in Wolverhampton two years ago.

Since then Tommy has been out to Ukraine to help train military personnel.

Phil said: "I can’t thank Tommy enough for such an informative and well-presented course. It’s important for instructors to stay on top of all aspects of coaching, competition work and the self-defence component of martial arts.

"Tommy’s vast experience on tactics, strategies and scenarios will add to a greater student experience, passing on this knowledge within all our classes."

Classes start from four years old up to adults and the dojo is located at 114 Whitby Road, Ellesmere Port, CH65 0AH.
