A POPULAR Chester city centre steakhouse has closed suddenly, just six months after it opened.
Tomahawk Steakhouse on Newgate Street previously opened its doors in September 2022, and had been well received by diners, with a 4.0 out of 5 rating on Tripadvisor and positive reviews coming as recently as last week.
It was a steak restaurant and bar, serving Himalayan salt dry-aged steaks, Wagyu and other local meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.
But at the start of this week the restaurant chain, which has 12 locations nationally plus a further five under its sister brand Rio Brazilian, removed its Chester location from its website. The listings on Tripadvisor and Google also list the venue as closed.
At the entrance to the now-closed restaurant, where all the furniture and table settings remain in place, a notice has been placed.
It reads: "Due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to close for the foreseeable future as Tomahawk."
The closure appears to be sudden as the most recent social media posts from the Chester restaurant were promoting Mother's Day gift vouchers for March 19.
Tomahawk Steakhouse Group has been approached for comment.
