A HAIR salon in Neston has become the second business in the area to be awarded 'plastic-free approved status'.
Coral Jade, 33, from Neston, has been hairdressing for 18 years and completed her apprenticeship at Thorton Hall.
12 years ago, Coral opened her own business Coral Jade Hair and Beauty in West Vale. After the pandemic, she moved her business to Hinderton Road.
Coral specialises in colouring and completed her Schwarzkopf master colour course in 2017. She has also recently started educating salon owners, helping them grow their businesses through social media.
One of Coral's clients, Ana Armson was the first person to become a plastic-free champion in Neston, with her business The End of the Avenue.
Speaking to the Globe, Coral said: "Ana was telling me about it and I said to her I really wanted to get involved.
"Schwarzkopf has just changed all of their packaging, so everything is now used from recycled stuff and it's also gone fully vegan so they're trying to do their bit for the environment which is really important to me."
How to become a plastic-free champion
To achieve the Plastic Free Champion Award a business needs to remove at least three single-use plastic items (eg. plastic bags, coffee cups and plastic drinks bottles) and show a commitment to tackling any others present in the business going forwards.
Once this is in place, businesses get a Plastic Free Champion plaque and certificate to highlight their great work and tell customers and the wider community.

She said: "I feel amazing. Hopefully, everyone else can try and do it as well. It's so important, especially with how the climate is at the moment.
"We used to have coffee pods so we've just got rid of those because it's plastic you can't do anything with.
"We've also got rid of bin liners because we're trying to reduce as much plastic as we can. I also buy refillable hand washes to stay as plastic-free as possible.
"We all need to do everything we can to help save the planet."
