A CHESTER city centre school has been given the thumbs-up by Ofsted inspectors.

Grosvenor Park CE Academy has been rated Good, in its first Government inspection since joining North West Academies Trust (NWAT) in 2018, when an ambitious restructuring and renovation project was launched.

Inspectors noted pupils are happy, polite and well cared for, and benefit from teaching that supports strong achievement.

Chief Executive of NWAT, Steve Docking OBE, said: "We're extremely proud of what has been achieved at Grosvenor Park over the past five years; it is fantastic place to learn.

“There is such a friendly atmosphere and a real sense of opportunity there, with a diverse timetable of opportunities, and doorstep access to Chester and Grosvenor Park.

"The plan is to continue the improvements and ensure children are given the best possible education.

"Well done to the team at Grosvenor, the children, parents, and all involved in making it such a fantastic place to be."

The report noted:

  • Leaders have created a culture where pupils can talk to adults if they have any concerns
  • Staff know their pupils and families well and tailor support to meet their needs.
  • Leaders have high expectations of all pupils’ achievements and behaviour
  • Pupils live up to these high expectations, and have positive attitudes to learning.
  • Leaders promote pupils’ personal development well.
  • A wide range of activities and clubs in music and art is popular with children
  • Pupils enjoy the opportunities to extend their learning outside the classroom.

Grosvenor Academy has benefitted from significant investment, including a new state-of-the-art sports hall, totalling more than £1 million.
