A MUM-OF-FOUR who opened up her own salon from home in Neston earlier this year, has become a finalist in three categories at the Hair and Beauty Awards 2023.

Emma Spencer, 35, originally from Liverpool, did a nail course while she was a childminder four years ago.

From that, she did nails from her kitchen table and then rented a desk at a nail salon on Neston High Street.

With rent prices increasing, and being a new mum to her fourth child, Emma decided to leave the nail salon and convert her garage so she could work from home.

Emma recently found out that she has become a finalist in the Salon of The Year category at the Hair and Beauty Awards 2023.

Earlier this week, Emma also received the news that she was a finalist in the Micro Salon of the Year and Beautician of the Year categories as well.

'I'm just made up'

She said: "I'm just made up. I don't think I'll win because it's the entire of UK but it's just the recognition of reaching the final.

"My clients are fantastic. We had a blip because one of my babies was in hospital but my clients were just so understanding."

Emma went on to say how reaching the final wouldn't have happened without her clients.

"It's absolutely would not have been possible without my clients. To enter these awards you have to send over case studies and pictures of your most recent work.

"Without my clients regularly coming to me and letting me try new things and perfect my skills I just wouldn't have got to this point.

"This is my job and career now and I couldn't be more thankful for every single one of them. I absolutely love it."
