A FLINTSHIRE town is set to be the focal point at the end of day one of motorsport event, Rali Revival Cymru.

Following the huge success of both previous editions of Rally Revival, the team wanted to try something different for 2023, and have launched a two-day event based at the Beaufort Park.

After a gruelling first day in the Welsh hills and various country estates, the event comes to Mold on the evening of Friday, March 10 for the overnight halt.

As a town, Mold has been synonymous with rallying for decades. Theatr Clwyd has played host to dozens of events and was once home to the Motoring New Championship Bartley Rally, and the RAC Rally has also graced the town numerous times.

In a first for the town, and with support from the town and county councils, the high street from the Cross (Chester Street) to the junction with King Street (just like on market days), will be closed to traffic between 5pm-10pm.

In place from 6pm will be a large start/finish arch, displays of various iconic rally and performance related machinery, all accompanied by knowledgeable commentary from 1996 British Rally Champion and S4C presenter, Howard Davies. Local motor club Broughton-Bretton will also be on hand to explain how to get involved and show people around some of their cars on display.

At 7pm the competing cars and crews will start to arrive, likely muddy but hopefully exhilarated, they will park up for people to have a good look around the cars in use on this level of event. If you ask you may even get to sit inside some as well!

Then at 7.30pm the cars will start to go under the arch whilst negotiating the comedic commentary of Howard, and give an insight into how their day is going.

Bryn Pierce, clerk of the course, said: "We can't thank Mold Town Council and Flintshire County Council enough for their enthusiastic support in making this happen.

"As a local myself and having attended school in Mold, it was always an ambition to try and bring an event such as this right into the town centre, it should be a wonderful night.

"To hear that entrants and their families are booking restaurants and accommodation in and around the town for the weekend is exactly what we hoped would happen, as the community gets a very real benefit from it too."
