A TRAIN has hit a van in Cheshire.

The incident occurred at 1.05pm today, Saturday, on the line between Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent.

The collision occurred as the train was approaching Alsager, approximately 500 metres from the station.

Police and fire crews are currently at the scene on Hall Drive, Alsager.

It has not yet been confirmed whether there are any casualties.

National Rail are warning of possible train cancellations, delays, or revisions to services.

They predict disruption will go on until 2.30pm

A Nation Rail incident report states: “A train hitting an obstruction on the line between Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent is causing disruption to journeys between these stations.

“Services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes, or revised.

“We anticipate disruption will continue until 2.30pm.”
