PLANS to tackle nuisance parking and review speed limits in an area of Cheshire are ‘progressing’, says the ward's councillor.

Nathan Pardoe, councillor for Wharton, has been updating residents after people expressed concerns about unsafe parking in Nat Lane and Road Three, Winsford Wharton, plus speed limits being too high in Bostock Road.

Following consultation, a double yellow line scheme is set to be implemented along Nat Lane, near Mcdonald’s, and Road Three, following nuisance parking which was causing problems for those using the road.

Cllr Pardoe said Highways will implement this and he will ‘arrange for enforcement activity to take place'.

He explained: "Numerous drivers have expressed worries about parked vehicles on the corner of Nat Lane near McDonald's, with concerns about safety.

“There have been similar issues on Road Three, with parked vehicles making it difficult for staff and visitors to drive along the road.

"Proposals for double yellow lines on both roads have been consulted on and are in the process of being implemented.

“Thanks also to the Winsford BID who visited businesses on Road Three to discuss the proposals, with businesses expressing overwhelming support for the changes.”

Highways and police have also been asked to review speed limits along Bostock Road after residents raised concerns, and a speed reduction was recommended.

Cllr Pardoe added: "Drivers raised concerns about Wharton Road/Bostock Road and if the existing speed limits were appropriate given the new homes and changes to the road layout.

“Highways have recommended a speed limit reduction with the support of the police.

“The 40mph section will be reduced to 30mph, and the National Speed Limit (NSL) section will be reduced to 40 mph.

"All of these changes will improve safety and are in the process of being implemented by Highways who have to work to statutory processes.

“When they take effect, I'll ask for enforcement of the new limits and restrictions to take place."
