A PREGNANT teenager stuffed apples in her lover's car exhaust during a rampage when he broke up with her just three weeks after meeting on a dating app.

Melanie Meigh, formerly of Wheelock Street, Middlewich, also painted obscene words on his garden gates and wall as well as stealing his passport, £12 and a set of spanners.

The 19-year-old, who is now seven months into her pregnancy, then spent four days harassing her victim with phone calls, voicemails and text messages.

Meigh appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 4, where she pleaded guilty to three counts of theft, four of criminal damage and one of harassment without violence.

The court heard she had met the victim on a dating app while pregnant but three weeks into their intimate relationship, he told her he didn’t want to see her anymore.

After an argument on August 12 last year, he left for work leaving Meigh at his Little Budworth home.

Arran Smith, prosecuting, told the court the victim returned home to find her still there and now accompanied by a man, co-defendant Owen Suckling.

The 24-year-old was alleged to have been involved in the incident, but denied this claiming to have only been at the scene to collect Meigh.

On his return, the victim also discovered the words ‘c***’ and ‘t***’ daubed on his garden gates and wall, his bike damaged and later apples and spray paint stuffed inside the exhaust of his Nissan pick-up truck.

He also later found items had been stolen from his house before he was subjected to a week-long harassment campaign where Meigh contacted him, leaving him messages such as ‘cheers for the spanners’ and ‘I hope you like apples’.

Stuart Flood, defending, said: “The offences themselves are relatively minor, but there are a lot of them. It is a question of maturity, and of pettiness.”

He explained how Meigh has previously only received a minor conviction for assault and battery.

Mr Flood added at the time of the offence in question, she lived in supported accommodation for care leavers, but that she now lived independently, though she is still supported.

Meigh, now of Reaseheath Way, Nantwich, was given conditional bail while a pre-sentence report is prepared, with orders not to approach the victim or his property.

She will return to court for sentencing on Wednesday, February 1.

Suckling, of Lee Place, Sandbach, also appeared in court on January 4 and denied three counts of theft, three of criminal damage, and one count of harassment without violence.

He will face trial on May 15.
