The annual Chester and Wrexham Charity Heritage Bus Running Day is taking place on New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1, 2023.

As well as an all-day regular vintage bus service operating between Wrexham City Centre and Chester, and Barkers Lane via Acton, visitors will also be able to get up close to a static display of vintage and classic buses that will be parked at Wrexham Bus Station during the day.

The event is based at Wrexham Bus Station with the D1 service and the 44H service running through to Chester Railway Station up to every 10 minutes for most of the day.

Buses will run a selection of full trips to Wrexham or Chester return and shorts that will cross with another vehicle at the half way point in Rossett village.

The first bus on the D1 service will depart from Wrexham bus station, stand two, at 8.45am stopping at: Garden Village, Gresford Plough Inn, Rossett Green, Pulford Church, Chester Railway Station before returning along the same route.

The first 44h service will leave Wrexham bus station at 9.30am stopping at Borras Park and Barker’s Lane before returning to Wrexham bus station.

Buses will then continue to follow these routes every 15 minutes until the final departure from Wrexham station at 5pm and Chester Station at 5.45pm.

Previous events saw a mix of local Crosville and Chester Corpy buses and some London Transport and many other non local vehicles.

The event is in aid of Nightingale House Hospice, which offers a wide range of facilities to local people and their families living with life-limiting illness.

In preparation for the event Wrexham Council has advised that the five marked disabled parking bays located to the rear of Wrexham Bus Station will be unavailable on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

Alternative disabled parking is available within the library car park, and blue badge holders are able to park in the limited waiting bays with no time limit, and free of charge, on King Street adjacent to the bus station, and on the single and double yellow lines on Regent Street, Duke Street and King Street.
