IF you purchased a real Christmas tree this year as part of your festive decorations and don't want it to go to waste, here's how you can recycle it.

Cheshire West and Chester Council have seven centres which will be offering a recycling service throughout January 2023, with the unwanted trees set to be chipped and used as mulch for existing shrub-beds throughout the borough.

If you are in a position to give to charity, both the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and St Luke's Hospice offer a collection service, where residents can recycle their trees whilst making a donation towards patient care.

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd will cover CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4, CH5, CH64, CH65, CH66, WA6 & CW6 postcodes, with further information and a link to book in your tree now active on their website.

St Luke's Hospice will cover households across the CW1 to CW11 postcodes, with the link to their collection service also now open.

Those recycling via the Council service can take their festive flora to:

  • Hooton Golf Club, Chester Road, Hooton, Ellesmere Port, CH66 1QF
  • Whitby Park, Stanney Lane, Ellesmere Port, CH65 9AQ
  • Stanney Fields Park, Hinderton Road, Neston, CH64 9PE
  • Marbury Park, Marbury Lane, CW9 6AP
  • Castle Park, Fountain Lane, Frodsham, WA6 6SA
  • Knights Grange Sports Complex, Winsford, CW7 2PT

Signage will direct visitors as to where to place their trees and the resulting mulch will then be distributed via the StreetCare service.

Please ensure all decorations have been removed before recycling your tree.
