A CHARITY has confirmed over 40 venues across North Wales and Cheshire that will be handing out free food this Christmas Eve.
Given to Shine, a local charity that supports those struggling financially is running the scheme on Christmas Eve for its sixth successive year.
The charity is currently collecting food which will be handed out free-of-charge to people from thousands of households across the area.
This will predominantly be seasonal vegetables but there may also be some bakery, fruit and other items available too.
The food provided will be predominantly supermarket surplus, food that would otherwise exceed its best before date during store closures and be destined for the bin.
This food is available for collection only and they ask where possible for families to only send one person per household to avoid huge queues and crowds.
The charity also advises that if you feel, or are unwell to send someone else to collect items for you.
The charity also asks those collecting to bring their own bags and boxes to venues and to be patient with volunteers and helpers.
