PUPILS at a local performing arts school have taken to the stage for the first time in over three years.

Theatretain celebrated their return to the stage on December 10 when 170 pupils aged between three and 18 came together to perform a Christmas showcase.

The show was made up of performers across classes in Wrexham, Mold, and Chester in front of a sell-out crowd at William Aston Hall.

Artistic Director of the schools, Steve Davies said: “This was the first Theatretrain show for lots of our pupils. And in many cases it was their first ever time on stage.

"The break from productions due to Covid and then the rush from lots of groups to book a theatre space meant that it has been three years since our last show.

"However the group made up for lost time by creating a show that showcased the dancing, acting and singing skills of their pupils and took everyone into the spirit of Christmas with colour, energy and enthusiasm.

The Christmas showcase was met with rave reviews from parents across social media to heap praise on the production. One parent commented: "The show really was fantastic, energetic, colourful and most of all, the children were superb. Made me well-up from the start”.

Another added: “Absolutely blown away, so invaluable for the kids, confidence boosting, enjoyable.”

One of the show's highlights of the show was the excitement on the children’s faces when the snow machines started to shower ‘snow’ all over them in the final song, ‘Walking In A Winter Wonderland’ - a fitting end to a truly enjoyable spectacle.

Preparations are already underway behind the scenes for next year's productions, which will see both Wrexham and Mold classes perform the musical, 'Annie'; whilst Chester pupils will travel to London to perform at the Royal Albert Hall.
