A CITY centre mobile phone store manager has completed two marathons in superfast time for charity.

Steve Duffy, manager of Chester’s Three store in Grosvenor Shopping Centre, managed to raise £750 for a good cause.

He completed the London Marathon on October 2 and crossed the line in an unbelievably quick time of 2hrs 57minutes.

Three weeks later, he completed the demanding Snowdonia marathon in 3hrs 21minutes, which has an ascent of 838 metres, the equivalent of running up and down London’s Gherkin three times!

The main motivation for the manager was to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research, which is a leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure.

Steve said: “No speed limits or slow browsing for me! I’m incredibly proud of the times I achieved and the money raised for the charity.

He added: “I wanted to raise money for dementia as this is very close to my heart after both my parents suffered from it and now my brother who has Cerebral Palsy and Learning Difficulties seems to be going that way as well.”

‘Superfast Steve’ will definitely be doing more marathons in the future and is planning on raising money for a Mental Health charity.

Julie Webb, Grosvenor Shopping Centre manager, said: “Wow those times are incredible. We’re all so proud of Steve for achieving his fundraising goals.”
