A CHESHIRE retirement village resident is celebrating success in a photography competition after her picture of the Cheshire countryside came out on top.
Jill Bicknell, who lives at The Cedars retirement development in Malpas, was invited to take and share photographs as part of a competition devised by developer McCarthy Stone. Jill and her fellow residents were encouraged to put forward their favourite scenery, wildlife and landscapes from the local area.
The snowy scene from Coppenhall, near Crewe, won the most votes from residents at The Cedars. Its vibrant colours beautifully showcase the Cheshire countryside in winter and Jill received £250 for her efforts.
Jill commented: "It was such a beautiful day – snow had fallen but it was bright and sunny - and I was eager to capture it on camera. I was really pleased with the result, I never thought I would win but I am delighted to have done so. Many thanks to McCarthy Stone for running the contest and to everyone at the development who voted for my photo!"
Fiona Brooks, Divisional Sales Director for McCarthy Stone, commented: "We received some fantastic entries which really showcased the natural features, flora and fauna of the local area, in different seasons throughout the year. This image captures the crispness of the snow against the dark trees and the beautiful blue sky and is a worthy winner."
