THREE fire crews were called out to a late night crash on the M56 near Ellesmere Port.

Friefighters used specialist equipment to free one casuality after a vehicle had left the carriageway and down an embankment.

The incident took place at about 10.50pm yesterday (Sunday, October 9) betwwen junctions 15 and 16 westbound on the M56.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle.

"The car had left the carriageway and had come to rest down an embankment.

"They used specialist equipment to release one casualty, who was passed to the care of paramedics."
