THE bomb squad was called after 'military explosives' were found during building work at a rural property near Chester.
Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team was alerted to the discovery by members of the public reporting suspicious-looking items on Monday, October 3.
The 'possible explosive devices' turned out to be training mortars from the Second World War.
As a result, officers immediately contacted experts from The Royal Logistic Corps Explosive Ordanance Disposal (EOD).
The squad attended and confirmed they were training mortars, safely removing them from the scene.
