AN award-winning restaurant at Chester Racecourse has launched a new roof terrace, offering spectacular views over the Roodee.
The team at 1539, alongside designer Katie McCarthy, founder of interior’s experts Design Equals, has created the roof terrace to sit alongside restaurant 1539, where al-fresco drinks and casual nibbles menus can be enjoyed all year round thanks to retractable covered canopies.
Lynsey Jones, head of restaurant group at Chester Race Company, said: "We reimagined our first roof terrace area for 1539 in spring this year, and its proved so popular that we’ve worked hard to create another gorgeous terrace.
"It’s a bijou space but with the same amazing panoramic views and delicious cocktails.
"While our larger roof terrace is wonderful for parties, groups, and liveliness, we see this new terrace being able to offer a more intimate experience – perfect for drinks with friends or romantic evenings – I imagine it might even become the scene of a few wedding proposals."
The a la carte, prix fixe and nibbles menu are all available to dine from on the terrace. For drinkers, mixologist-created cocktails, or simple aperitifs or digestifs are available.
They can also enjoy the selection of wine from in the wine room at 1539, which carries over 80 bins.
Designer Katie McCarthy described the inspiration behind the terrace: "We started with a very simple decked roof terrace, and have transformed it, bringing the inside out, rather the outside in!
"The furnishings are plush and comfortable with opulent fabrics and a sophisticated feel."
She added: "There is some really beautiful, very realistic faux planting added throughout and a luxury botanical feel to make you feel like you are in a very extravagant garden all year round."
The new roof terrace is open from noon until late, Wednesdays to Sundays, all year round.
Chester Racecourse is due to host its final race meeting of the year on Saturday, September 24, after the previous two race meetings were called off when the British Horseracing Authority suspended all fixtures out of respect for the late Queen.
