The death of Queen Elizabeth II has meant the nation has entered a period of mourning, and therefore there have been significant changes in TV schedules and will be further in the coming days.

After her death on Thursday, September 8 many scheduled TV shows were taken off air to allow for further coverage.

Daily shows including Eastenders, The One Show and more were all taken off the air for a period of time.

When will Emmerdale return?

Thursday’s episode of Emmerdale was postponed following the news of the Queen’s death and was replaced with rolling coverage.

However, ITV has confirmed Thursday’s episode will air on Sunday, September 11.

The broadcaster also confirmed Good Morning Britain will be on air until 9.30am on Sunday, followed by a documentary narrated by Mary Nightingale called Queen Elizabeth II and a special news programme titled ITV News: The Nations Proclaim The King at 11.30am.

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral plans confirmed

This comes as the Queen's funeral has officially been announced. 

It will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19 at 11am.

The Earl Marshal, the Duke of Norfolk has confirmed the news.

This comes as it has been announced that the Queen’s coffin – which is lying in the Ballroom at Balmoral Castle – will be taken by road to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh on Sunday, September 11, on a six-hour journey by hearse.

Prior to the funeral, the Queen will lie in state for “four clear days” in Westminster Hall from Wednesday, September 14, a senior palace official said.

Today, Saturday, September 10, King Charles III confirmed that the day of the queen’s funeral would be a bank holiday

The new King approved the bank holiday as part of the Day of National Mourning.

Her Majesty's funeral is now confirmed to take place on Monday, September 19.
