THROUGHOUT the years, Chester has been lucky enough to enjoy a number of Royal visits, including from Her Majesty The Queen.
Queen Elizabeth II paid a number of visits to Chester across the decades, including three in the 2010s.
Here are some of the best photos we have seen from the archives of Her Majesty's visits to the area.
One of Her Majesty's Royal visits to the city was in July 1957, where she inspected the Old Comrades of Cheshire on the Roodee. The same visit also saw the monarch visit Chester Royal Infirmary, greeting patients both young and old on the wards.
The same Royal visit, where The Queen had been accompanied by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, saw both sign their portraits during a visit at Chester's new County Hall.
In 1966, the Queen enjoyed a day at the races in Chester, where she saw her horse Garter go out for the Cheshire Oaks race.
During a visit in 1979, where The Queen arrived by Royal train, Her Majesty visited, among other locations, Mollington Grange Cheese Farm, as well as Chester Cathedral.
The Queen returned to Chester in 1992, where she attended the Maundy service at Chester Cathedral, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh.
Not all of The Queen's visits were in Chester. In 1998, The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were in Ellesmere Port, to mark the official opening of the Blue Planet Aquarium.
During The Queen's Diamond Jubilee tour, Her Majesty paid a visit to Chester Zoo, coming face to face with two critically endangered black rhinos while The Duke of Edinburgh was shown the zoo's Asian elephant herd.
The Royal couple also enjoyed a trip on the zoo's monorail, which at the time was still running before it was mostly taken down in 2019.
The Queen's final visit to Chester was in June 2018, where accompanying Her Majesty was Meghan, Duchess of Sussex at the time, to commemorate the official opening of the Storyhouse culture hub in Chester city centre.
Having earlier officially opened the Mersey Gateway Bridge, The Queen and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, were given a guided tour of everything Storyhouse had to offer the local community, including a theatre and a performance from local schools.
The end of the visit at Storyhouse saw The Queen officially unveil a plaque marking the opening of the culture hub, before Her Majesty and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex enjoyed lunch at the nearby Chester Town Hall.
