A DEVELOPER is set to begin work on a former industrial plot in Ellesmere Port which will see the creation of 29 quality new family homes.

The scheme will be developed in partnership with Muir Group Housing Association and will be formed of 25 two and three-bed houses, and four one-bed apartments which will be made available both for affordable rent and shared ownership.

Work is currently underway to remove the foundations of the former Cousins Factory in preparation for building work to begin in summer 2022 and the project is scheduled for completion in early 2024.

Chester and District Standard:

Lane End Land is behind the development.

Director, Scott Ashall, said: “The Cromwell Road project with Muir is a great example of how brownfield land can be developed into quality affordable family housing.

"The site is located within walking distance of the town centre and will offer new residents easy access to many local amenities including shopping and schools.

“Lane End has a number of other developments in the local area, and the addition of Cromwell Road will only enhance the opportunities available for local employment, apprenticeships, and supply chain.”

Muir owns and manage more than 5,500 homes across the country and provides a diverse range of housing solutions and associated services to meet the needs of existing and potential customers.

Alex Fury, Muir’s assistant director of assets and growth, said: “We’re really pleased to be delivering this scheme. It will create a fabulous new future for this site and hopefully for new Muir residents too.

"Developments like this are a great example of how Muir helps to transform local areas whilst providing much-needed, high-quality affordable housing with the support of Homes England funding.

“Muir, Lane End and Cheshire West worked really hard to make this scheme happen and I’m excited to watch it progress.”
