FIREFIGHTERS were called out to an incident close to a war memorial.
One fire crew attended the scene at Overton Hill, near Frodsham, at about 10.30am today (Thursday, September 1).
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "A 25 square metre grass fire was reported on Overton Hill.
"Firefighters arrived at the War Memorial and had to make the rest of their way on foot to reach the fire.
"They put it out using beaters and a water backpack and then cooled and dampened the area, which contained peat, down.
"The fire is believed to have started accidentally."
