AN Ellesmere Port vets has had their exterior transformed by a popular Liverpool street and mural artist.

Paul Curtis, 42, from Liverpool, will be marking five years since he began working in street art and murals in the coming weeks.

Around two or three months ago, Paul was contacted by Littlecroft Vets in Ellesmere Port to paint their exterior wall.

Paul said: “Obviously with it being a vet you go with animals, so that’s where the idea came from.

“We kicked around a few designs. I guess when you go into a vet it’s always about cats and dogs.

"They are the most popular and common animals to have as pets.

“I always think people have affection for cats or dogs, or both.”

Speaking about the painting itself, Paul added: “It’s always best having them coming out of the wall, because then you get the eyes looking at you and it just looks more alive. It gives it more emotion.”

Chester and District Standard:

The wall has a big telelgraph pole in the middle of it, which made it difficult for Paul as he couldn't centralise the image.

For that reason, Paul decided to put a dog one side of the pole and a cat the other side.

Due to the animals either side of the pole, Paul came up with the name 'Cats’ vs dogs' for the artwork.

Overall, the mural took Paul around four days and it was officially finished on Friday, August, 19.

Adam Webster, clinical director of Littlecroft Vets, said: “We are delighted with the finished work and have had many lovely comments from our clients and neighbours.

“Paul is a talented artist, and we were thrilled to find him, he really has brightened up one of our walls.”
