FIREFIGHTERS in Winsford have tackled a number of incidents this weekend.

Saturday saw crews join others across Cheshire to tackle a large blaze at a charity shop.

At around 11am, five fire engines were called to Winsford Cross Shopping Centre in Dene Drive, where crews found a fire in the Headway charity shop.

The fire, suspected to involve strip lighting, spread to a nearby unit and firefighters tackled the blaze with hose reels and an aerial ladder for more than five hours.

At around 11.40pm on Saturday, crews were then called to skip fire in Rilshaw Lane.

Firefighters used a hose reel water jet to put out a skip full of waste which was well alight.

Nearby properties were not affected.

A few hours later at just after 1am this morning, Sunday, crews attended The Loont.

They used a hose reel water jet to extinguish a domestic wheelie bin on fire.
