A TRIAL date has been set for a Chester man accused of a serious assault in the city centre.
Kane Oxford, 34, of Brook Street, stands charged with section 18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The charge is in connection with an incident which led to a section of Foregate Street being cordoned off by police on the morning of Thursday, July 7. The road was closed between the Love Street junction and The Bars Roundabout while officers conducted an investigation.
A 36-year-old man was taken to Aintree Hospital following the incident with a neck injury and was later discharged.
Appearing at Chester Crown Court on Friday, August 5, a trial date of December 19 was set by the court, with an estimated trial length of two days.
Due to the ongoing industrial action at the law courts, Oxford did not have a defence representative at the hearing, and as a result was not asked to enter a plea at this stage.
A further case management hearing will take place next month at Chester Crown Court.
Oxford was remanded in custody.
