A DRIVER has been banned from the roads and ordered to complete unpaid work after failing to provide a sample of breath to police.

Graham Cole was required to provide the sample to officers in Middlewich on July 11, during the course of an investigation into whether he had committed an offence.

But the 24-year-old ‘failed without reasonable excuse to do so’.

Cole, of Ash Street in Northwich, appeared in Chester Magistrates’ Court on August 2 where he pleaded guilty to the offence.

Magistrates took this into account when imposing sentence.

Cole was disqualified from driving for 17 months – but he will get a 17-week reduction in this if he takes a driving course.

He was also ordered to carry out 100 hours on unpaid work.

Cole must pay £85 in court costs and a £114 surcharge.
