A DRUG dealer arrested in a police raid has had his sentencing date delayed by more than a month due to the barrister strike.

Michael Edwards was due to be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on July 29 after pleading guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs (heroin and crack cocaine).

But the 35-year-old, of Pinewood Road, Winsford, will now appear on September 8 due to industrial action.

Criminal barristers in England and Wales have been on strike in a dispute over legal aid and funding.

Edwards was originally arrested on June 29 after police executed a warrant – recovering 155 wraps of heroin and 238 wraps of crack cocaine.

A black Skyjet motorcycle was also seized by officers during the warrant.

A police dog called Bandit assisted in the raid and found cash that had been well hidden.
