REGISTRATION for Chester's 2022 Foamtastic Colour Blast fun run is now open.

Hundreds are preparing to take on the untimed route at Chester Racecourse for local charity Hospice of the Good Shepherd. The messy fun will feature a huge paint throw to kick start the event, regular paint stations and a foam bubble pit.

With less than 24 percent of the charity's £4.2 million running costs being covered by government funding, events like Foamtastic help to raise vital funds.

Sam Bowen-Lewis is supporting the Hospice to follow in her dad Peter's footsteps.

Sam said: "My dad became ill with cancer and needed more help with errands, especially during lockdown, so I had the chance to see some of his letters. There were always letters from the Hospice thanking him for his donations, selling raffle tickets (he usually bought all of them) and his lottery contributions to the weekly £1 lottery.

"He had always supported charities but the Hospice seemed to feature so much more often. One day, I asked him why and he replied, 'I love that it's a local charity, but more importantly I might need them one day!'"

Unfortunately, Peter later became very ill from the cancer and asked Sam to continue to support the Hospice when he no longer could.

"He made me promise him that after he was gone, I would carry on supporting the Hospice in his name. He never made it to the Hospice but when he died last year, I was sorting through old post and found a Hospice letter, which made me smile.

"I got in touch with the Hospice, and I explained the situation and they started sending me raffle tickets and information. I buy a remembrance flower each year from the Hospice in memory of him, this year it is a beautiful Gerbera, and I visit any fairs which they hold.

"When I saw the Colour Run advertised I thought 'What a fun way to raise money!' So, me and my 8 year old son Arthur will be running for my wonderful Dad, Arty's Grandad. Continuing the support, as promised."
