A MAN who committed nine separate offences on the same day – including assaulting an emergency worker and attempted burglary – has been jailed for more than two years.
Benjamin Gibney, of Park Street, Northwich, pleaded guilty to a whole host of offences, and appeared in Chester Crown Court on Tuesday (July 26) to be sentenced.
The court heard the 34-year-old went on a crime spree on January 3 this year.
On this date, he entered an address in Chapel Court in Northwich as a trespasser with intent to steal and was also found in possession of an offensive weapon – a screwdriver – along Chapel Street in the town.
Among the other offences he carried out were common assault on a man, assault on a woman and two counts of sending a threatening message via a telephone call, intending to cause distress or anxiety to two separate individuals – one man and one woman.
Gibney also pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent by maliciously wounding a man.
The court was told he assaulted a police officer in the execution of her duty and interfered with a Ford Transit van on the same day – with the intention that an offence of theft of the vehicle, or part of it or of anything inside, would be committed.
Gibney was jailed for a total of 26 months and is also subject to a restraining order.
