ARTISAN coffee chain, Black Sheep Coffee is preparing its new location on Chester's Northgate Street after plans were approved by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The company, who has coffee shops and cocktails bars throughout the UK, France and the Philippines, will be bringing their 'specialty grade robusta beans' to the city with the new shop covering two floors at 5 Northgate Street.

The Grade II* listed building will be the latest in a string of sites for the coffee chain, who already have five stores in Manchester and are set to open in both Chester and nearby Liverpool in the near future.

Currently, the street-level part of the development is a empty retail space sandwiched between stationer Smiggle and footwear store Doc Martens, but the new plans will utilise both the ground and first floor space as a new Black Sheep Coffee location.

Planning documents submitted to the Council state: "The building is to be refurbished and developed for use as a coffee shop operated by Black Sheep Coffee. The ground floor will accommodate a servery counter, limited customer seating and a wheelchair disabled WC. The first floor will accommodate additional customer seating and WC’s and the basement, staff accommodation, a prep area and storage."

Alongside their various specialty brews, the company also has a range of fruit smoothies and shakes, together with Norwegian waffles with a range of toppings including Nutella and peanut butter and banana.

The new shop is also listed on the brand's website, stating that opening hours will be available in due course.
