POLICE have launched a witness appeal after a motorcyclist died in a crash on the M53.

At about 7.25pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Junction 2 Southbound slipway at Moreton Spur, to reports that a white and silver Suzuki motorbike was in collision with a barrier.

Emergency services attended but the rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 30s, passed away at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

The area was closed to traffic while an investigation was launched and the vehicle removed. The road has since reopened.

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the serious collision investigation unit said: "We are investigating a collision on the M53 last night where a man sadly passed away.

"Our thoughts are with his family, who are being supported by specially trained officers.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who may have been driving in the area at around 7.25pm last night who may have seen a white and silver Suzuki motorbike being ridden prior to the collision.

"Similarly, if you have dashcam footage of the area, please review it and let us know if you see the bike described.

"All information you hold could be vital to our investigation."
