A SEAL was spotted in the River Mersey twice within 40 minutes in Cheshire.
Cyclist Jim Morrison first spotted it when riding past on his bike near Howley Suspension Bridge in Warrington.
Then around 40 minutes later on his way back from the gym, he saw it again at Kingsway Allotments where it moved rather close to him.
Jim said it was on the surface of the water for around 30 seconds the first time he spotted it.
The seal then disappeared underwater.
He said there seemed to be a high tide and that the seal was far up the river.
Then the second time he spotted the seal, it got a lot closer.
Jim said: "It was an amazing sight and it's a testament to how clean the river must be.
"I just hope that when the water level drops, the seal isn't stuck on the wrong side of the weir.
"I'll be keeping an eye out on my next few bike rides in the event that it makes a reappearance."
